National Day of Prayer – May 3, 2018

“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Psalm 107:28-30 (NLT)

May 3, 2018:  I can’t think of a better day than today to write my first blog post — National Day of Prayer.

Prayer is what has gotten me through so many days — seasons — of my life. I frankly don’t know what I’d do without it. I’ve come face-to-face with the power of prayer and feel so blessed to have the awesome privilege of talking with my Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere, about anything!

The Psalm above is very special to me. In future posts I’ll go into more detail, but for now, I just want to focus on the first two words, “Lord, help!”

I’ve cried, “Help!” to my Father more times than I can count.

Help…

  • We can ask for it
  • We can offer it
  • We can reject it
  • We can receive it
  • We can wish for it
  • We can cry out for it

What a blessing to receive help exactly when we need it! I’ve personally been needing a lot of help in these recent days. I’m currently writing a devotional book which I hope to get published in the near future, and it’s been a bit overwhelming, but God has heard my prayers for help. With that said, I want to thank Him for these special people in my life …

My dear friend, Janet, for her expertise and help in creating this web page for me. Daryl and Kim, of Skeeters Photography & Design, for their gift of time and talent in doing a photo shoot for me. My Moms in Touch and Circle of Five sisters for their continued encouragement and powerful prayer covering. DiAnn Mills and Teri L. Reynolds, my author friends, for their insightful thoughts and who keep me moving forward. My sweet husband, for his belief in me. And my amazing children, for the ways they bless and motivate me to take the next step.

Stay tuned, as I’ll be sharing the pieces of my heart that I know are going to be stretched and deepened because of what lies ahead in this book-writing journey.

Where are you being stretched in your life? Is there a cry for, “help” falling from your lips tonight? Know that He hears you and will calm your storm as you trust in Him.

With my whole heart,

Diane
