    The Fragrance of Friendship

I enjoyed a sweet time of  fellowship in my home last night celebrating a dear friend’s birthday. There was interesting conversation, uplifting encouragement, along with many laughs and stories shared. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the moment with them — blessed by each of their insights. Everyone needs good friends, and I’m so blessed to have these women, as well as others, in my life who love me, encourage me, challenge me, and most of all, pray for me. I have to believe that when believing women bind together in prayer, a special bond of strength is formed like none other. When these women left my home last night, they…

    “Being” in the Moment

Hello friend! I know!  It’s been awhile, right? (I just looked — it’s been six months since my last post.) Let me catch you up  … Over the past year, I’ve spent a lot of my free weekends traveling two and a half hours away to see my grandson, Luke. And on the weekends I wasn’t traveling to visit him, I was working on a writing project which celebrated his first year of life. I’ve been enjoying a different kind of rhythm to my days these last six months, in particular. My heart has been happy, and I’ve been loving my new role as Mimi. But then … CORONAVIRUS hit…

    Seasons of Life

Hello there! Boy, October has quickly moved in and made itself known with a welcomed cool front this weekend!  So refreshing!  And oh, how I love seeing the colors of orange and yellow as they pop up here and there highlighting the landscape! Just as the seasons come and go on the calendar, we experience different seasons of life, don’t we? Depending on where we are on our individual life journeys, we could be in a season of summer where we’re finally feeling the warmth of the sun shining down on our weary hearts after a long winter. Or, for others of us, we could be experiencing the season of winter…

Days vs. Years … Countdown to Sixty Begins

“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered — how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4 (NLT) Here it is — the last day in August and I’ve been enjoying each day of this, my birth month! Every birthday up until now has been a time of celebrating my life and all the years I’ve lived, but this birthday has been a little different. I’ve found myself focusing more on celebrating the day I’m living instead of the years I’ve lived.  Let me explain … Each year has been quietly unfolding in my life — one right into another —…

    Am I Enough?

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9) The day I became a mother …  I remember it well. The precious little boy I had carried for 8 months would not be coming home with me. He had gone on to heaven. My heart was in a million pieces. Eighteen days later, Mother’s Day arrived, along with all the Mother’s Day cards, flowers and gifts that were displayed in every gift shop and grocery store I entered. That…

    Consistent and Persistent

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:1 (NIV) Is anyone out there writing a book? Do you ever find yourself stuck? I do. From time to time my writing momentum slows down and comes to a complete halt. I allow other things to come between me and my published book goal. I can get quite irritated with myself, but have come to realize that other things will come into my life that are worthy of my attention and time. Knowing how to prioritize my time continues to be a challenge for me. You, too? We all have the same number of…

What’s So Special About Thursday Anyway?

Thursday, or Friday Eve, as some refer to it, has a unique role all its own. It’s that extraordinary day of the week that gets to pave the way for the celebrated beginning of our beloved weekend — (Just thinking about it makes my heart cheer — WooHoo!) I’ve got a friend who knows me well. All she has to do is remind me Thursday’s coming, and an instant dose of “happy” boosts my spirit. In all reality, though, every day should be our favorite — the very present moment we’re living in — because really, it’s all we’ve got. Tomorrow is never promised, so why not make the most…

A Day of Holding and Beholding

Yesterday was the kind of day I want to remember forever! I don’t know which touched me more — getting to spend the day holding my new little grandson after his 52-day stay in NICU or beholding my daughter in her new role as a mother.  Both have done a number on my heart! As I spent the day with Luke and held him in my arms,  I strangely discovered he filled a part of my heart that I didn’t even know was empty.  How can someone so little do something so big? And, as I watched my daughter in her new role as mother, there was even more joy…

    A Lesson in Patience

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Colossians 3:12 (NLT)   There’s just something about the moment when 7 lbs. 9 oz. of newborn snuggly softness is placed in your arms for the first time. I’d like to say I have the perfect words for such a moment. But I don’t. There are no words. Just a heart that feels likes it’s going to burst with joy and melt with love all at the same time. Definitely a moment worth celebrating and tucking away to be pulled out over and over again. This little guy…

    The Night It Happened

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 (KJV) One holy night, in a moment, the BEST gift EVER was given to the world. This gift was not wrapped in Christmas paper but was wrapped in love, and the gift tag was addressed to: THE WORLD The gift of life, love, peace and joy. May you receive the gift that keeps on giving — Jesus, who is Christ the Lord. With my whole heart, Diane
