His Masterpiece
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions for masterpiece is “a work done with extraordinary skill; especially: a supreme intellectual or artistic achievement.” Most of the famous masterpieces we know, i.e. Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Michelangelo’s painting of the Sistine Chapel, to name just two, were not completed overnight. Years and years of work went into them. I recently viewed a video on Smithsonian.com which showed how Michelangelo used a creative technique to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It was not done freehand but by a process that started with sketches and then the use of a blade to incise the lines of the sketch onto the plaster to ready it for painting.
Scripture says we are God’s masterpiece. Created by His hand. The same hand that created the heavens and the earth. The same hand that rises the sun and sets it to rest each night. The Great Almighty God our Father is the one who declares us His masterpiece.
Believing who we are in Christ is essential in moving us forward so we can do the good things he has planned for us long ago.
What good things has he planned for you to do? If you are unsure, pray and ask God to show you what it is, where it is. He has the answer.
My heart has been led to New Life Adoptions in Tomball, Texas. My place of ministry is there with other birth-grandmothers, like myself. I can now see how the events over my lifetime are all fitting together so beautifully. All the colors of the paint palate are being used — from the darkest hues to the brightest — all have a place on my canvass of life. I see the work of beauty coming into view as I lay the pieces of my heart in the Master’s hand.
I am His masterpiece. And, so are you.
With my whole heart,
Diane
